AHTS Newsletter

The society publishes a bimonthly newsletter which is circulated to all financial members. The newsletter covers a wide range of topics including technical articles, member contributions, and announcements of Society events. In addition to the high quality of articles, free advertising space is provided to members to enable the buying, selling, or swapping of goods and services related to historic telephones. The editor is always keen to receive suitable articles for publication, and can be readily contacted by e-mail or paper mail. Note that submission deadlines are the 1st of the month prior to a society meeting.

This example article from the October 2000 newsletter details some of the identification codes given to early PMG telephones, while this one (also from the October 2000 newsletter) covers details of the British Ericsson Magneto wall Telephones.

The first issue of the newsletter appeared in August 1976. In its 30 years of production it has been a central feature of the society, both providing a valuable source of informative technical articles, a means of keeping far flung members in touch, and supporting the buying and selling of telephony items. The tables of contents of back issues of the AHTS newsletters up to December 2001 were compiled to allow an electronic search of sorts. To do so, go to the back issues pages and use your browser's "find/search" facility to locate articles of interest in this page.
